Hanging out with Grammy

February 14

Today was our second annual V-Day scavenger hunt. This year it was an even bigger hit and Daddy was home so that made it special. After our hunt, Grammy and I took the kids to a benefit concert for a little girl who needs a new wheelchair. The concert wasn't really that great but it was fun for the kids to get out and get silly. Too much winter around here.

February 12

My mom has been in town this week and today she was the helper in Tyler's class. She read a Clifford's Valentine's Day book, helped with their party and served the cupcakes we made yesterday. Mia and I came for the last part of the party because I had to grocery shop and decided to take her with me. I had such a scary incident. I got out of the car carrying Mia and unexpectedly slipped on black ice and Mia came out of my arms and hit her head on the ground and landed hard on my knee. Mia was fine but it was hard to tell at first because it was so shocking to her. I literally almost threw up because I thought for sure she was badly hurt. I will never forget that horrible sick feeling as long as I live.. Anyway, after we recovered and I stopped shaking, we went to Tyler's party and joined in the festivities. Mia is an old-pro at preschool since we have helped out before and she actually thinks she is a preschooler so it works out well

Today was Mia's first haircut. She got a cute little bob to even out her ends because it was beginning to look like a mullet. Bye bye Jungle Baby!

February 1 - 18 months!

Mia turned 18 months today. I don't know where the time has gone but the terrible 2's are already rearing their ugly head. She is still my sweet little Mia but now with a little sassiness to her - Mia "the Diva". She grew a whopping 3.5 inches and went from the 28th percentile to the 78th percentile for height. She gained a pound so she is in the 25th percentile for weight. I think every calorie must have been going to her height. She is talking more. She can actually repeat a lot of words when I ask her to but she doesn't do it unless prompted which is probably because Tyler talks for her most (read: all) of the time. Her favorite animal noise is the Snake - "Hiss sound" and she loves to dance especially to the Flighty Fairy in the Backyardigans Mighty Knights. She still loves Dora, especially Swiper. I weaned her off the bottle today. Surprisingly no issues at all. She loves to dress up and wear jewelry. She loves loves shoes of all kinds. She still sounds like a newborn baby when she cries at night. She loves toothbrushes and still loves her stethescopes. She is a voracious reader and an incredible climber. The picture of her in the sink is actually where I found her this week when I realized it was just a little too quiet.
Happy Birthday my sweeet beautiful Mia Grace!

(very random thoughts.. just my way of making sure I remember it all because it is going by too fast.)

January 25

Today we said goodbye to Tyler's crib. He has been napping in his big boy bed for quite a few months but he would not sleep in his bed at night so today we finally bit the bullet and took the crib down. To our complete astonishment, there was absolutely no issue that night. I guess it was time and he was ready. We have been spending every weekend painting, hanging and cleaning. I will post pictures of some our project shortly but getting the crib out of Tyler's room frees up some space so we can finish decorating his room.

Happy 4th Birthday Maddy!
Tyler had a much needed 1.5 hours to jump, run and go crazy at Pump It Up! It is still so cold here and the kids just desperately want to run. I think this was Tyler's first day of ever not having a nap. I know that in unbelievable but usually he will just sleep wherever we are. Today was just too exciting and he made it until about 7pm and as soon as we got in the car, he feel asleep in about two minutes.

Tyler is still quite the soccer player and a very patient "waiter" if I do say so myself.
